When children are young there are many opportunities to teach them things that will travel far into their distant future. Of course with the plate pictured above, motor skills are practiced. As an adult can you see what else can this plate teach a young child? Cooking? Healthy Lifestyle? Of course! By talking to your toddler you can teach them to do both.
Explain what a parfait is. Perhaps they have had one at a local drive-thru. Let them sprinkle on their toppings and celebrate their creation.
As adults, we understand the importance of choosing a healthy lifestyle. Admittedly based on our upbringing, this isn’t always easy. How important then, is it, that we are purposeful in helping our children to feel that a healthy lifestyle is a normal part of their life. By creating colorful plates for our children we train them early on. We can spend time explaining why foods have different colors and how this means they have different positive effects on our body. Sprinkle in Cinnamon or other healthy options in their milk. Allow them to stir it, they will feel capable.Don’t hold back if you cannot have an ideal diet. When you talk to kids about the importance of eating healthy, it’s a lesson that they can carry forever.
